Meet the speakers

Mandy Nyarko MBE is Co-Founder at Startup Discovery School.

Through the design of incubators, accelerators and open innovation programmes, Mandy builds startups in the U.K. and Africa addressing environmental and social sustainability issues. She founded the Sustainable Womens Network, is an advisor on the SME action board to the UK Government’s Department of Business energy and industrial strategy and an accredited coach and alumni of Cambridge University’s Institute of Sustainability Leadership. Mandy is also a Venture Partner at Ada Ventures, with a £50M fund focused on investing in underrepresented founders. Before Startup Discovery School Mandy worked at 2 of the big 5 UK banks.

Sophie Walker is CEO and Co-Founder at Dsposal.

An award-winning circular economy tech company, Dsposal and sister social enterprise Your Dsposal, demystify the world of waste to empower people and organisations to make better decisions with their rubbish. Sophie is also a Women in Innovation award winner, Group Coordinator of the Waste Compliance Taskforce, sits on the advisory board for the One Bin project at University of Manchester, and was on the EDI working group for CIWM. Prior to founding Dsposal, Sophie enjoyed a winding career encompassing supply chain, the food industry and sustainability.

Guy Pattison is Story & Strategy Director at Stronger Stories.

Following 20 years developing sponsorship and PR strategies for clients including Barclaycard and EDF Energy, Guy woke up to the climate crisis. Shortly thereafter, he co-founded Stronger Stories to democratise story power in order to elevate diverse voices and ideas in the fight for social and climate justice. Now trusted by innovators and entrepreneurial thinkers from startups to global NGOs, Guy will reveal how changing the story gives Founders the power to change the world, fairer and faster.
